Getting There

Well hello,

My blogging is pretty crap to be honest, so I thought I should write something just to let you know that I am still here and thinking about these things. In the next few days I will be posting photos and stuff to keep you entertained for a few minutes.

It's been a long time....

It's been far too long since I last blogged. Life has been pretty hectic, a lot of things have changed and the future is looking pretty good.

Since my last post, we (Plastic Toys) went to Berlin and played at PopKomm, which was so much fun and as a result of that, things band wise have really picked up. 2008 will hopefully be the year that it really, properly starts. It is going to be hard work, but at last it feels that what we are aiming for is within our grasp.

Personally, I am just trying to get myself sorted for all the band stuff. I need to get up off my bum and start to get fit, mega fit. I am one of those people that just cannot do gyms. I must have joined about five by now, but just cannot stick to it. Over the past couple of days I have started to research into other forms of exercise that aren't anywhere near as dull. So far my list consists of; Pole Dancing, Fencing, Mountain Biking, Yoga, Pilates and Spin Classes. The only problem now is how do I fit them into my busy life and also how do I keep motivated? Answers on a postcard please.

I feel that I should attach some photos, but I will save that for next time (always keep them wanting more!).

Waiting for Alice

I met Phil Jupitus last night, cool bloke. I was working on his play called "Waiting for Alice". I was really impressed with it and would definitely recommend going to see it if you get the chance. He is taking it up to The Fringe, which is something I have never gone to, but should do at some point.

Restaurant by the lake

I went to a restaurant by a lake tonight with a rather polite older gentleman.

Chinese Running Ducks are fucking odd.

Today

Today I learn't that you have to do what you want. You will never be happy living in someone else's shoes. You are in charge of your life, so fucking sort it out. Don't lie, be honest, be blunt, but also be kind. Women are wierd, get used to it.

This is so true

I blame azcameron.co.uk for this, but it is definitely me

Kitty Brooks doesn't know the meaning of the word 'enough.' It's not that Kitty is greedy or that she lacks self-discipline - far from it. Kitty goes out of her way to share, care and be fair. That's why she never quite knows when to stop. To draw the line you have to be a little insensitive. How, precisely, should it be measured? With a magnifying glass? Or with a microscope? Kitty Brooks is extremely sensitive and keenly perceptive. She is a Libran, born under the sign of the scale. Kitty knows in her heart that no matter how meticulously you ever weigh anything in this world you can always reach a different conclusion if you apply a more refined set of measurements. Kitty knows that those refinements are infinite. Hours have minutes, minutes have seconds. Seconds have nanoseconds. No wonder Kitty Brooks is never sure what time it is!
Some people are prone to assume that Kitty has her head in the clouds. They think that she lives in a world of her own full of lofty ideas and complex theories. Other people have the temerity to watch Kitty at work in this way and to suppose that Kitty is indecisive! Where on earth do they get that idea from? Actually Kitty is one of the most decisive people on the face of the planet. she absolutely, definitely knows what she wants but she only knows it from one second to the next. To the untrained eye this appears to be an inconsistency. What they fail to see are the countless nanoseconds during which Kitty's sense of purpose is solid as a rock. Kitty, though, knows what people are thinking and so, to keep them on their toes she makes a point of declaring her intentions loudly and clearly. she makes quite sure that these brave statements never differ from day to day. That fools most of the people most of the time.

Festivals

Festivals. We have played at a few now. Over the past few years festivals have become more and more popular. We have had some "amazing" slots. Birmingham, Saturday 30th June, 2.30am, well actually 5am. We played to 5 people, 3 of which were working. Getting on stage at that time is a joke. The best part about the evening is that I visited an art insallation, which was fucking awesome. And aslo, a lady crashed into Reeves's car on the way up. We spent some time spelling our friends' names with our gear in the floor. Rock and roll. Photos to come soon.

Plastic Toys BBQ

Neighbourhood

Tonight we played London Calling at Neighbourhood, Notting Hill, London. Another typical London gig of a random selection of bands. We were on first at 8pm. It was fun, but I was struggling with lack of sleep. Some guy seemed to really enjoy taking photos of Jon. It made me laugh a lot, but not as much as Si pushing Jon off stage, that made me laugh out very loud. Almost every gig I seem to end up in giggles at some point, I think I am having far too much fun.

I haven't really ever been to Notting Hill, but I am definitely going to go back there and explore during the daytime at some point soon. There is a lot of London and a lot about London I hate, but there are also some pretty cool places to explore and have fun. I remember spending a day in Richmond once with a friend. After a few drinks we thought it would be a good idea to go rowing on the Thames, I can tell you that it wasn't! I think we then tried to cycle through Richmond Park.

I am in the process of getting photos sorted to post on here, but I have taken hundreds and haven't filed them in any order whatsoever. I am on the case, so bear with me.

Also tonight I had my photo taken a lot. As a child the thought of someone pointing a camera at me would upset me beyond belief. Even now I hate having to pose for photos unless I am doing it for band stuff, then it all comes very naturally. I now know what pose suits me the best and how to work the camera. That makes me laugh as well, boy how I have changed.

Blogger : Hello Kitty :: Configure Video Bar

Welcome to Hello Kitty

I thought it was about time that I started to write a blog, apparently it is the thing to do. I hope to post at least once a week and talk about me, the band Plastic Toys, stuff in general and post some photos of the week, as I like piccies.

This week started of from recovering from the weekend. We had a Plastic Toys BBQ at Ben's (the drummer) house. I have photos that I will post later of some of the silliness that was had, but nothing too incriminating!

Today is my last day of teaching, possibly forever, but there are so many exciting things happening with the band that I need all the time and energy possible to help drive things forward.

This Wednesday the 27th we have a gig here;
London Calling industry showcase @ Neighbourhood 12 Acklam Road, London, W10 5QZ
It is a free gig, so no reason for you not to come if you are about. We are on at 8pm, which I know is early, but then you can come and hang out with the Toys afterwards, bonus!

Only a couple of weeks until Let Me Feel the Love is realeased, exciting stuff. You can now order a hard copy of the single from;

http://www.recordstore.co.uk

If you want to pre-order a digital download just text PLASTIC 82822 (costs £1.50)

The CD features:
Let Me Feel The Love
Superfreak
Let Me Feel The Love (uncut promo video)

Now for the exciting bit. You can win a signed iPod Nano loaded with the full Plastic Toys album 2 months in advance of its release date just by texting TOYS to 82822. (costs 25p)

Well I am going to cut it here for my first post. Another to come very soon, with photos, once I figure out how to do that.
